21:1 [hgb]  王 的 心 在 耶 和 华 手 中 , 好 像 陇 沟 的 水 , 随 意 流 转 。 
    [kjv]  The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
    [bbe]  The king's heart in the hands of the Lord is like the water streams, and by him it is turned in any direction at his pleasure.
21:2 [hgb]  人 所 行 的 , 在 自 己 眼 中 都 看 为 正 , 惟 有 耶 和 华 衡 量 人 心 。 
    [kjv]  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
    [bbe]  Every way of a man seems right to himself, but the Lord is the tester of hearts.
21:3 [hgb]  行 仁 义 公 平 , 比 献 祭 更 蒙 耶 和 华 悦 纳 。 
    [kjv]  To do justice and judgment1 is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
    [bbe]  To do what is right and true is more pleasing to the Lord than an offering.
21:4 [hgb]  恶 人 发 达 , 眼 高 心 傲 , 这 乃 是 罪 。 ( 发 达 原 文 作 灯 ) 
    [kjv]  An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing2 of the wicked, is sin.
    [bbe]  A high look and a heart of pride, *** of the evil-doer is sin.
21:5 [hgb]  殷 勤 筹 划 的 , 足 致 丰 裕 。 行 事 急 躁 的 , 都 必 缺 乏 。 
    [kjv]  The thoughts of the diligent3 tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
    [bbe]  The purposes of the man of industry have their outcome only in wealth; but one who is over-quick in acting4 will only come to be in need.
21:6 [hgb]  用 诡 诈 之 舌 求 财 的 , 就 是 自 己 取 死 。 所 得 之 财 , 乃 是 吹 来 吹 去 的 浮 云 。 
    [kjv]  The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
    [bbe]  He who gets stores of wealth by a false tongue, is going after what is only breath, and searching for death.
21:7 [hgb]  恶 人 的 强 暴 , 必 将 自 己 扫 除 。 因 他 们 不 肯 按 公 平 行 事 。 
    [kjv]  The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
    [bbe]  By their violent acts the evil-doers will be pulled away, because they have no desire to do what is right.
21:8 [hgb]  负 罪 之 人 的 路 , 甚 是 弯 曲 。 至 于 清 洁 的 人 , 他 所 行 的 乃 是 正 直 。 
    [kjv]  The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
    [bbe]  Twisted is the way of him who is full of crime; but as for him whose heart is clean, his work is upright.
21:9 [hgb]  宁 可 住 在 房 顶 的 角 上 , 不 在 宽 阔 的 房 屋 , 与 争 吵 的 妇 人 同 住 。 
    [kjv]  It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling5 woman in a wide house.
    [bbe]  It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house.
21:10 [hgb]  恶 人 的 心 , 乐 人 受 祸 。 他 眼 并 不 怜 恤 邻 舍 。 
    [kjv]  The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
    [bbe]  The desire of the evil-doer is fixed6 on evil: he has no kind feeling for his neighbour.
21:11 [hgb]  亵 慢 的 人 受 刑 罚 , 愚 蒙 的 人 就 得 智 慧 。 智 慧 人 受 训 诲 , 便 得 知 识 。 
    [kjv]  When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
    [bbe]  When the man of pride undergoes punishment, the simple man gets wisdom; and by watching the wise he gets knowledge.
21:12 [hgb]  义 人 思 想 恶 人 的 家 , 知 道 恶 人 倾 倒 , 必 至 灭 亡 。 
    [kjv]  The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
    [bbe]  The Upright One, looking on the house of the evil-doer, lets sinners be overturned to their destruction.
21:13 [hgb]  塞 耳 不 听 穷 人 哀 求 的 , 他 将 来 呼 吁 也 不 蒙 应 允 。 
    [kjv]  Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
    [bbe]  He whose ears are stopped at the cry of the poor, will himself get no answer to his cry for help.
21:14 [hgb]  暗 中 送 的 礼 物 , 挽 回 怒 气 。 怀 中 搋 的 贿 赂 , 止 息 暴 怒 。 
    [kjv]  A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom7 strong wrath8.
    [bbe]  By a secret offering wrath is turned away, and the heat of angry feelings by money in the folds of the robe.
21:15 [hgb]  秉 公 行 义 , 使 义 人 喜 乐 , 使 作 孽 的 人 败 坏 。 
    [kjv]  It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity9.
    [bbe]  It is a joy to the good man to do right, but it is destruction to the workers of evil.
21:16 [hgb]  迷 离 通 达 道 路 的 , 必 住 在 阴 魂 的 会 中 。 
    [kjv]  The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
    [bbe]  The wanderer from the way of knowledge will have his resting-place among the shades.
21:17 [hgb]  爱 宴 乐 的 , 必 致 穷 乏 。 好 酒 爱 膏 油 的 , 必 不 富 足 。 
    [kjv]  He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
    [bbe]  The lover of pleasure will be a poor man: the lover of wine and oil will not get wealth.
21:18 [hgb]  恶 人 作 了 义 人 的 赎 价 。 奸 诈 人 代 替 正 直 人 。 
    [kjv]  The wicked shall be a ransom10 for the righteous, and the transgressor11 for the upright.
    [bbe]  The evil-doer will be given as a price for the life of the good man, and the worker of deceit in the place of the upright.
21:19 [hgb]  宁 可 住 在 旷 野 , 不 与 争 吵 使 气 的 妇 人 同 住 。 
    [kjv]  It is better to dwell in the wilderness12, than with a contentious13 and an angry woman.
    [bbe]  It is better to be living in a waste land, than with a bitter-tongued and angry woman.
21:20 [hgb]  智 慧 人 家 中 积 蓄 宝 物 膏 油 。 愚 昧 人 随 得 来 随 吞 下 。 
    [kjv]  There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling14 of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
    [bbe]  There is a store of great value in the house of the wise, but it is wasted by the foolish man.
21:21 [hgb]  追 求 公 义 仁 慈 的 , 就 寻 得 生 命 , 公 义 , 和 尊 荣 。 
    [kjv]  He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
    [bbe]  He who goes after righteousness and mercy will get life, righteousness, and honour.
21:22 [hgb]  智 慧 人 爬 上 勇 士 的 城 墙 , 倾 覆 他 所 倚 靠 的 坚 垒 。 
    [kjv]  A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty15, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
    [bbe]  A wise man goes up into the town of the strong ones, and overcomes its strength in which they put their faith.
21:23 [hgb]  谨 守 口 与 舌 的 , 就 保 守 自 己 免 受 灾 难 。 
    [kjv]  Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
    [bbe]  He who keeps watch over his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
21:24 [hgb]  心 骄 气 傲 的 人 , 名 叫 亵 慢 。 他 行 事 狂 妄 , 都 出 于 骄 傲 。 
    [kjv]  Proud and haughty16 scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
    [bbe]  The man of pride, lifted up in soul, is named high-hearted; he is acting in an outburst of pride.
21:25 [hgb]  懒 惰 人 的 心 愿 , 将 他 杀 害 , 因 为 他 手 不 肯 作 工 。 
    [kjv]  The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
    [bbe]  The desire of the hater of work is death to him, for his hands will do no work.
21:26 [hgb]  有 终 日 贪 得 无 餍 的 , 义 人 施 舍 而 不 吝 惜 。 
    [kjv]  He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
    [bbe]  All the day the sinner goes after his desire: but the upright man gives freely, keeping nothing back.
21:27 [hgb]  恶 人 的 祭 物 是 可 憎 的 , 何 况 他 存 恶 意 来 献 呢 ? 
    [kjv]  The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

21:28 [hgb]  作 假 见 证 的 必 灭 亡 , 惟 有 听 真 情 而 言 的 , 其 言 长 存 。 
    [kjv]  A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
    [bbe]  A false witness will be cut off, ...
21:29 [hgb]  恶 人 脸 无 羞 耻 , 正 直 人 行 事 坚 定 。 
    [kjv]  A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
    [bbe]  The evil-doer makes his face hard, but as for the upright, he gives thought to his way.
21:30 [hgb]  没 有 人 能 以 智 慧 , 聪 明 , 谋 略 , 敌 挡 耶 和 华 。 
    [kjv]  There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
    [bbe]  Wisdom and knowledge and wise suggestions are of no use against the Lord.
21:31 [hgb]  马 是 为 打 仗 之 日 预 备 的 。 得 胜 乃 在 乎 耶 和 华 。 
    [kjv]  The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
    [bbe]  The horse is made ready for the day of war, but power to overcome is from the Lord.
