    [bbe]  Now after the death of Joshua, the children of Israel made request to the Lord, saying, Who is to go up first to make war for us against the Canaanites?
1:2 [hgb]  耶 和 华 说 , 犹 大 当 先 上 去 , 我 已 将 那 地 交 在 他 手 中 。 
    [kjv]  And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold2, I have delivered the land into his hand.
    [bbe]  And the Lord said, Judah is to go up: see, I have given the land into his hands.
1:3 [hgb]  犹 大 对 他 哥 哥 西 缅 说 , 请 你 同 我 到 拈 阄 所 得 之 地 去 , 好 与 迦 南 人 争 战 。 以 后 我 也 同 你 到 你 拈 阄 所 得 之 地 去 。 于 是 西 缅 与 他 同 去 。 
    [kjv]  And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.
    [bbe]  Then Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my heritage, so that we may make war against the Canaanites; and I will then go with you into your heritage. So Simeon went with him.
1:4 [hgb]  犹 大 就 上 去 , 耶 和 华 将 迦 南 人 和 比 利 洗 人 交 在 他 们 手 中 。 他 们 在 比 色 击 杀 了 一 万 人 。 
    [kjv]  And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew3 of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
    [bbe]  And Judah went up; and the Lord gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands; and they overcame ten thousand of them in Bezek.
1:5 [hgb]  又 在 那 里 遇 见 亚 多 尼 比 色 , 与 他 争 战 , 杀 败 迦 南 人 和 比 利 洗 人 。 
    [kjv]  And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
    [bbe]  And they came across Adoni-zedek, and made war on him; and they overcame the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
1:6 [hgb]  亚 多 尼 比 色 逃 跑 。 他 们 追 赶 , 拿 住 他 , 砍 断 他 手 脚 的 大 姆 指 。 
    [kjv]  But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
