COMMANDER FARRAGUT was a good seaman1, worthy2 of the frigate3 he commanded. His ship and he were one. He was its very soul. The ship's officers shared the views of their leader. Voluntary watches from the crosstrees of the topgallant sail were self-imposed by more than one who would have cursed such toil11 under any other circumstances.
