During the following days, the 13th, 14th, and 15th of June, the barometer1 slowly fell, without an attempt to rise in the slightest degree, and the weather became variable, hovering2 between rain and wind or storm. The breeze strengthened considerably3, and changed to south-westerly. It was a head-wind for the Dream, and the waves had now increased enormously, and lifted her forward. Godfrey bore the trial of the ship's motion without even losing his good-humour for a moment. Evidently he was fond of the sea.
