BEHOLD¹, as goblins dark of mien²

And portly tyrants³ dyed with crime

Change, in the transformation⁴ scene,

At Christmas, in the pantomime,

Instanter, at the prompter’s cough,

The fairy bonnets⁵ them, and they

Throw their abhorred⁶ carbuncles off

And blossom like the flowers in May.
