4:1 [hgb]  提 幔 人 以 利 法 回 答 说 ,
    [kjv]  Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
    [bbe]  And Eliphaz the Temanite made answer and said,
4:2 [hgb]  人 若 想 与 你 说 话 , 你 就 厌 烦 吗 ? 但 谁 能 忍 住 不 说 呢 ?
    [kjv]  If we assay1 to commune with thee, wilt2 thou be grieved? but who can withhold3 himself from speaking?
    [bbe]  If one says a word, will it be a weariness to you? but who is able to keep from saying what is in his mind?
4:3 [hgb]  你 素 来 教 导 许 多 的 人 , 又 坚 固 软 弱 的 手 。
    [kjv]  Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
    [bbe]  Truly, you have been a helper to others, and you have made feeble hands strong;
4:4 [hgb]  你 的 言 语 曾 扶 助 那 将 要 跌 倒 的 人 。 你 又 使 软 弱 的 膝 稳 固 。
    [kjv]  Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
    [bbe]  He who was near to falling has been lifted up by your words, and you have given strength to bent4 knees.
4:5 [hgb]  但 现 在 祸 患 临 到 你 , 你 就 昏 迷 , 挨 近 你 , 你 便 惊 惶 。
    [kjv]  But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
    [bbe]  But now it has come on you and it is a weariness to you; you are touched by it and your mind is troubled.
4:6 [hgb]  你 的 倚 靠 不 是 在 你 敬 畏 神 吗 ? 你 的 盼 望 不 是 在 你 行 事 纯 正 吗 ?
    [kjv]  Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
    [bbe]  Is not your fear of God your support, and your upright way of life your hope?
4:7 [hgb]  请 你 追 想 , 无 辜 的 人 有 谁 灭 亡 。 正 直 的 人 在 何 处 剪 除 。
    [kjv]  Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?
    [bbe]  Have you ever seen destruction come to an upright man? or when were the god-fearing ever cut off?
4:8 [hgb]  按 我 所 见 , 耕 罪 孽 , 种 毒 害 的 人 , 都 照 样 收 割 。
    [kjv]  Even as I have seen, they that plow5 iniquity6, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
    [bbe]  What I have seen is that those by whom trouble has been ploughed, and evil planted, get the same for themselves.
4:9 [hgb]  神 一 出 气 , 他 们 就 灭 亡 。 神 一 发 怒 , 他 们 就 消 没 。
    [kjv]  By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils7 are they consumed.
    [bbe]  By the breath of God destruction takes them, and by the wind of his wrath8 they are cut off.
4:10 [hgb]  狮 子 的 吼 叫 , 和 猛 狮 的 声 音 , 尽 都 止 息 。 少 壮 狮 子 的 牙 齿 , 也 都 敲 掉 。
    [kjv]  The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
    [bbe]  Though the noise of the lion and the sounding of his voice, may be loud, the teeth of the young lions are broken.
4:11 [hgb]  老 狮 子 因 绝 食 而 死 。 母 狮 之 子 也 都 离 散 。
    [kjv]  The old lion perisheth for lack of prey9, and the stout10 lion's whelps are scattered11 abroad.
    [bbe]  The old lion comes to his end for need of food, and the young of the she-lion go wandering in all directions.
4:12 [hgb]  我 暗 暗 地 得 了 默 示 。 我 耳 朵 也 听 其 细 微 的 声 音 。
    [kjv]  Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.
    [bbe]  A word was given to me secretly, and the low sound of it came to my ears.
4:13 [hgb]  在 思 念 夜 中 , 异 象 之 间 , 世 人 沉 睡 的 时 候 。
    [kjv]  In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,
    [bbe]  In troubled thoughts from visions of the night, when deep sleep comes on men,
4:14 [hgb]  恐 惧 , 战 兢 临 到 我 身 , 使 我 百 骨 打 战 。
    [kjv]  Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
    [bbe]  Fear came on me and shaking, and my bones were full of trouble;
4:15 [hgb]  有 灵 从 我 面 前 经 过 , 我 身 上 的 毫 毛 直 立 。
    [kjv]  Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
    [bbe]  And a breath was moving over my face; the hair of my flesh became stiff:
4:16 [hgb]  那 灵 停 住 , 我 却 不 能 辨 其 形 状 。 有 影 像 在 我 眼 前 。 我 在 静 默 中 听 见 有 声 音 说 ,
    [kjv]  It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
    [bbe]  Something was present before me, but I was not able to see it clearly; there was a form before my eyes: a quiet voice came to my ears, saying:
4:17 [hgb]  必 死 的 人 岂 能 比 神 公 义 吗 ? 人 岂 能 比 造 他 的 主 洁 净 吗 ?
    [kjv]  Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker12?
    [bbe]  May a man be upright before God? or a man be clean before his Maker?
4:18 [hgb]  主 不 信 靠 他 的 臣 仆 , 并 且 指 他 的 使 者 为 愚 昧 。
    [kjv]  Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
    [bbe]  Truly, he puts no faith in his servants, and he sees error in his angels;
4:19 [hgb]  何 况 那 住 在 土 房 , 根 基 在 尘 土 里 , 被 蠹 虫 所 毁 坏 的 人 呢 ?
    [kjv]  How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth13?
    [bbe]  How much more those living in houses of earth, whose bases are in the dust! They are crushed more quickly than an insect;
4:20 [hgb]  早 晚 之 间 , 就 被 毁 灭 , 永 归 无 有 , 无 人 理 会 。
    [kjv]  They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
    [bbe]  Between morning and evening they are completely broken; they come to an end for ever, and no one takes note.
4:21 [hgb]  他 帐 棚 的 绳 索 岂 不 从 中 抽 出 来 呢 ? 他 死 , 且 是 无 智 慧 而 死 。
    [kjv]  Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
    [bbe]  If their tent-cord is pulled up, do they not come to an end, and without wisdom?
