[kjv]  O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt1 thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
[bbe]  O Lord, you are my God; I will give praise to you, I will give honour to your name; for you have done great acts of power; your purposes in the past have been made true and certain in effect.
[kjv]  For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.
[bbe]  For you have made a town a waste place: a strong town a mass of broken walls; the tower of the men of pride has come to an end; it will never be put up again.
[kjv]  Therefore shall the strong people glorify2 thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee.
[bbe]  For this cause will the strong people give glory to you, the town of the cruel ones will be in fear of you.
[kjv]  For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy3 in his distress4, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
[bbe]  For you have been a strong place for the poor and the crushed in their trouble, a safe place from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the wrath5 of the cruel ones is like a winter storm.
[kjv]  Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
[bbe]  As heat by the shade of a cloud, the noise of the men of pride has been made quiet by you; as heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the cruel ones has been stopped.
[kjv]  And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow6, of wines on the lees well refined.
[bbe]  And in this mountain will the Lord of armies make for all peoples a feast of good things, a feast of wines long stored, of good things sweet to the taste, of wines long kept and tested.
[kjv]  And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
[bbe]  And in this mountain he will put an end to the shade covering the face of all peoples, and the veil which is stretched over all nations.
[kjv]  He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke7 of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
[bbe]  He has put an end to death for ever; and the Lord God will take away all weeping; and he will put an end to the shame of his people in all the earth: for the Lord has said it.
[kjv]  And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation8.
[bbe]  And in that day it will be said, See, this is our God; we have been waiting for him, and he will be our saviour9: this is the Lord in whom is our hope; we will be glad and have delight in his salvation.
[kjv]  For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.
[bbe]  For in this mountain will the hand of the Lord come to rest, and Moab will be crushed down in his place, even as the dry stems of the grain are crushed under foot in the waste place.
[kjv]  And he shall spread forth10 his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
[bbe]  And if he puts out his hands, like a man stretching out his hands in swimming, the Lord will make low his pride, however expert his designs.
[kjv]  And the fortress11 of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.
[bbe]  And the strong tower of your walls has been broken by him, made low, and crushed even to the dust.
