[kjv] The former treatise1 have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
[bbe] I have given an earlier account, O Theophilus, of all the things which Jesus did, and of his teaching from the first,

[kjv] Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
[bbe] Till the day when he was taken up to heaven after he had given his orders, through the Holy Spirit, to the Apostles of whom he had made selection:

[kjv] To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining2 to the kingdom of God:
[bbe] And to whom he gave clear and certain signs that he was living, after his death; for he was seen by them for forty days, and gave them teaching about the kingdom of God:
1:4 [hgb] 耶 稣 和 他 们 聚 集 的 时 候 , 嘱 咐 他 们 说 , 不 要 离 开 耶 路 撒 冷 , 要 等 候 父 所 应 许 的 , 就 是 你 们 听 见 我 说 过 的 。
[kjv] And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

[kjv] When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt3 thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
[bbe] So, when they were together, they said to him, Lord, will you at this time give back the kingdom to Israel?
1:7 [hgb] 耶 稣 对 他 们 说 , 父 凭 着 自 己 的 权 柄 , 所 定 的 时 候 日 期 , 不 是 你 们 可 以 知 道 的 。
[kjv] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

[kjv] Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
[bbe] And said, O men of Galilee, why are you looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come again, in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
