Chapter 1

1:1 [hgb]  作 长 老 的 写 信 给 蒙 拣 选 的 太 太 ， （ 太 太 或 作 教 会 下 同 ） ， 和 她 的 儿 女 ， 就 是 我 诚 心 所 爱 的 。 不 但 我 爱 ， 也 是 一 切 知 道 真 理 之 人 所 爱 的 。 
    [kjv]  The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
    [bbe]  I, a ruler in the church, send word to the noble sister who is of God's selection, and to her children, for whom I have true love; and not only I, but all who have knowledge of what is true;
1:2 [hgb]  爱 你 们 是 为 真 理 的 缘 故 ， 这 真 理 存 在 我 们 里 面 ， 也 必 永 远 与 我 们 同 在 。 
    [kjv]  For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
    [bbe]  Because of this true knowledge which is in us, and will be with us for ever:
1:3 [hgb]  恩 惠 ， 怜 悯 ， 平 安 ， 从 父 神 和 他 儿 子 耶 稣 基 督 ， 在 真 理 和 爱 心 上 ， 必 常 与 我 们 同 在 。 
    [kjv]  Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
    [bbe]  May grace, mercy, and peace be with us from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in all true love.
1:4 [hgb]  我 见 你 的 儿 女 ， 有 照 我 们 从 父 所 受 之 命 令 遵 行 真 理 的 ， 就 甚 欢 喜 。 
    [kjv]  I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
    [bbe]  It gave me great joy to see some of your children walking in the true way, even as we were ordered to do by the Father.
1:5 [hgb]  太 太 阿 ， 我 现 在 劝 你 ， 我 们 大 家 要 彼 此 相 爱 。 这 并 不 是 我 写 一 条 新 命 令 给 你 ， 乃 是 我 们 从 起 初 所 受 的 命 令 。 
    [kjv]  And now I beseech¹ thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
    [bbe]  And now, my sister, I make a request to you, not sending you a new law, but the law which we had from the first, that we have love for one another.
1:6 [hgb]  我 们 若 照 他 的 命 令 行 ， 这 就 是 爱 。 你 们 从 起 初 所 听 见 当 行 的 ， 就 是 这 命 令 。 
    [kjv]  And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
    [bbe]  And love is the keeping of his laws. This is the law which was given to you from the first, so that you might keep it.
1:7 [hgb]  因 为 世 上 有 许 多 迷 惑 人 的 出 来 ， 他 们 不 认 耶 稣 基 督 是 成 了 肉 身 来 的 。 这 就 是 那 迷 惑 人 ， 敌 基 督 的 。 
    [kjv]  For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
    [bbe]  Because a number of false teachers have gone out into the world, who do not give witness that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Such a one is a false teacher and Antichrist.
1:8 [hgb]  你 们 要 小 心 ， 不 要 失 去 你 们 （ 有 古 卷 作 我 们 ） 所 作 的 工 ， 乃 要 得 着 满 足 的 赏 赐 。 
    [kjv]  Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought², but that we receive a full reward.
    [bbe]  Keep watch over yourselves, so that you do not make our work of no effect, but may get your full reward.
1:9 [hgb]  凡 越 过 基 督 的 教 训 ， 不 常 守 着 的 ， 就 没 有 神 。 常 守 这 教 训 的 ， 就 有 父 又 有 子 。 
    [kjv]  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine³ of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
    [bbe]  Anyone who goes on and does not keep to the teaching of Christ, has not God: he who keeps to the teaching has the Father and the Son.
1:10 [hgb]  若 有 人 到 你 们 那 里 ， 不 是 传 这 教 训 ， 不 要 接 他 到 家 里 ， 也 不 要 问 他 的 安 。 
    [kjv]  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
    [bbe]  If anyone comes to you not having this teaching, do not take him into your house or give him words of love:
1:11 [hgb]  因 为 问 他 安 的 ， 就 在 他 的 恶 行 上 有 分 。 
    [kjv]  For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
    [bbe]  For he who gives him words of love has a part in his evil works.
1:12 [hgb]  我 还 有 许 多 事 要 写 给 你 们 ， 却 不 愿 意 用 纸 墨 写 出 来 。 但 盼 望 到 你 们 那 里 ， 与 你 们 当 面 谈 论 ， 使 你 们 的 喜 乐 满 足 。 
    [kjv]  Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
    [bbe]  Having much to say to you, it is not my purpose to put it all down with paper and ink: but I am hoping to come to you, and to have talk with you face to face, so that your joy may be full.
1:13 [hgb]  你 那 蒙 拣 选 之 姊 妹 的 儿 女 都 问 你 安 。 
    [kjv]  The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
    [bbe]  The children of your noble sister, who is of God's selection, send you their love.

1 beseech   

v.祈求，恳求

2 wrought
