    [kjv]  And there shall come forth1 a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
    [bbe]  And there will come a rod out of the broken tree of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will give fruit.
    [kjv]  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
    [bbe]  And the spirit of the Lord will be resting on him, the spirit of wisdom and good sense, the spirit of wise guiding and strength, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
    [kjv]  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
    [bbe]  And he will not be guided in his judging by what he sees, or give decisions by the hearing of his ears:

    [kjv]  But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity2 for the meek3 of the earth: and he shall smite4 the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay5 the wicked.
    [bbe]  But he will do right in the cause of the poor, and give wise decisions for those in the land who are in need; and the rod of his mouth will come down on the cruel, and with the breath of his lips he will put an end to the evil-doer.
    [kjv]  And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins6.

    [bbe]  And the wolf will be living with the lamb, and the leopard will take his rest with the young goat; and the lion will take grass for food like the ox; and the young lion will go with the young ones of the herd9; and a little child will be their guide.

    [kjv]  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
    [bbe]  There will be no cause of pain or destruction in all my holy mountain: for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the sea is covered by the waters.
    [kjv]  And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
    [bbe]  And in that day, the eyes of the nations will be turned to the root of Jesse which will be lifted up as the flag of the peoples; and his resting-place will be glory.
    [kjv]  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
    [bbe]  And in that day the hand of the Lord will be stretched out the second time to get back the rest of his people, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the sea-lands.
    [kjv]  And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed11 of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
    [bbe]  And he will put up a flag as a sign to the nations, and he will get together those of Israel who had been sent away, and the wandering ones of Judah, from the four ends of the earth.
    [kjv]  The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries12 of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex13 Ephraim.
    [bbe]  And the envy of Ephraim will be gone, and those who make trouble for Judah will come to an end: Ephraim will have no more envy of Judah, and there will be an end of Judah's hate for Ephraim.
    [kjv]  But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines14 toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
    [bbe]  And they will be united in attacking the Philistines on the west, and together they will take the goods of the children of the east: their hand will be on Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon will be under their rule.

    [kjv]  And the LORD shall utterly15 destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty16 wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
    [bbe]  And the Lord will make the tongue of the Egyptian sea completely dry; and with his burning wind his hand will be stretched out over the River, and it will be parted into seven streams, so that men may go over it with dry feet.
    [kjv]  And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
