[kjv] The burden of Damascus. Behold1, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

17:2 [hgb] 亚 罗 珥 的 城 邑 , 已 被 撇 弃 。 必 成 为 牧 羊 之 处 , 羊 在 那 里 躺 卧 , 无 人 惊 吓 。
[kjv] The cities of Aroer are forsaken2: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
[bbe] Her towns are unpeopled for ever; there the flocks take their rest in peace, without fear.
17:3 [hgb] 以 法 莲 不 再 有 保 障 。 大 马 色 不 再 有 国 权 , 亚 兰 所 剩 下 的 , 必 像 以 色 列 人 的 荣 耀 消 灭 一 样 。 这 是 万 军 之 耶 和 华 说 的 。
[kjv] The fortress3 also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
[bbe] The strong tower has gone from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus: the rest of Aram will come to destruction, and be made like the glory of the children of Israel, says the Lord of armies.
17:4 [hgb] 到 那 日 雅 各 的 荣 耀 , 必 至 枵 薄 , 他 肥 胖 的 身 体 , 必 渐 瘦 弱 。
[kjv] And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
[bbe] And it will be in that day that the glory of Jacob will be made small, and the strength of his body will become feeble.
17:5 [hgb] 就 必 像 收 割 的 人 , 收 敛 禾 稼 , 用 手 割 取 穗 子 。 又 像 人 在 利 乏 音 谷 拾 取 遗 落 的 穗 子 。
[kjv] And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
[bbe] And it will be like a man cutting the growth of his grain, pulling together the heads of the grain with his arm; even as when they get in the grain in the valley of Rephaim.
17:6 [hgb] 其 间 所 剩 下 的 不 多 , 好 像 人 打 橄 榄 树 , 在 尽 上 的 枝 梢 上 , 只 剩 两 三 个 果 子 , 在 多 果 树 的 旁 枝 上 , 只 剩 四 五 个 果 子 。 这 是 耶 和 华 以 色 列 的 神 说 的 。
[kjv] Yet gleaning4 grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough5, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
[bbe] But it will be like a man shaking an olive-tree, something will still be there, two or three berries on the top of the highest branch, four or five on the outside branches of a fertile tree, says the Lord, the God of Israel.
17:7 [hgb] 当 那 日 人 必 仰 望 造 他 们 的 主 , 眼 目 重 看 以 色 列 的 圣 者 。
[kjv] At that day shall a man look to his Maker6, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
[bbe] In that day a man's heart will be turned to his Maker, and his eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
17:8 [hgb] 他 们 必 不 仰 望 祭 坛 , 就 是 自 己 手 所 筑 的 , 也 不 重 看 自 己 指 头 所 作 的 , 无 论 是 木 偶 , 是 日 像 。
[kjv] And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves7, or the images.
[bbe] He will not be looking to the altars, the work of his hands, or to the wood pillars or to the sun-images which his fingers have made.
17:9 [hgb] 在 那 日 他 们 的 坚 固 城 , 必 像 树 林 中 和 山 顶 上 所 撇 弃 的 地 方 , 就 是 从 前 在 以 色 列 人 面 前 被 人 撇 弃 的 。 这 样 , 地 就 荒 凉 了 。
[kjv] In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
[bbe] In that day your towns will be like the waste places of the Hivites and the Amorites which the children of Israel took for a heritage, and they will come to destruction.
17:10 [hgb] 因 你 忘 记 救 你 的 神 , 不 记 念 你 能 力 的 磐 石 。 所 以 你 栽 上 佳 美 的 树 秧 子 , 插 上 异 样 的 栽 子 。
[kjv] Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation8, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
[bbe] For you have not given honour to the God of your salvation, and have not kept in mind the Rock of your strength; for this cause you made a garden of Adonis, and put in it the vine-cuttings of a strange god;
17:11 [hgb] 栽 种 的 日 子 , 你 周 围 圈 上 篱 笆 , 又 到 早 晨 使 你 所 种 的 开 花 。 但 在 愁 苦 极 其 伤 痛 的 日 子 , 所 收 割 的 , 都 飞 去 了 。
[kjv] In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
[bbe] In the day of your planting you were watching its growth, and in the morning your seed was flowering: but its fruit is wasted away in the day of grief and bitter sorrow.
17:12 [hgb] 唉 , 多 民 哄 嚷 , 好 像 海 浪 ? ? 訇 , 列 邦 奔 腾 , 好 像 猛 水 滔 滔 。
[kjv] Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty9 waters!
[bbe] Ah! the voice of peoples, like the loud sounding of the seas, and the thundering of great nations rushing on like the bursting out of waters!
17:13 [hgb] 列 邦 奔 腾 , 好 像 多 水 滔 滔 。 但 神 斥 责 他 们 , 他 们 就 远 远 逃 避 , 又 被 追 赶 , 如 同 山 上 的 风 前 糠 , 又 如 暴 风 前 的 旋 风 土 。
[kjv] The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke10 them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff11 of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
[bbe] But he will put a stop to them, and make them go in flight far away, driving them like the waste of the grain on the tops of the mountains before the wind, and like the circling dust before the storm.
17:14 [hgb] 到 晚 上 有 惊 吓 , 未 到 早 晨 他 们 就 没 有 了 。 这 是 掳 掠 我 们 之 人 所 得 的 分 , 是 抢 夺 我 们 之 人 的 报 应 。
[kjv] And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
[bbe] In the evening there is fear, and in the morning they are gone. This is the fate of those who take our goods, and the reward of those who violently take our property for themselves.
