[kjv]  Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east:
[bbe]  And he took me to the doorway1 looking to the east:
[kjv]  And, behold2, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
[bbe]  And there was the glory of the God of Israel coming from the way of the east: and his voice was like the sound of great waters, and the earth was shining with his glory.
[kjv]  And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
[bbe]  And the vision which I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came for the destruction of the town: and like the vision which I saw by the river Chebar; and I went down on my face.
[kjv]  And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect3 is toward the east.
[bbe]  And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the doorway looking to the east.
[kjv]  So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
[bbe]  And the spirit, lifting me up, took me into the inner square; and I saw that the house was full of the glory of the Lord.
[kjv]  And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
[bbe]  And the voice of one talking to me came to my ears from inside the house; and the man was by my side.
[kjv]  And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile4, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
    [bbe]  And he said to me, Son of man, this is the place where the seat of my power is and the resting-place of my feet, where I will be among the children of Israel for ever: and no longer will the people of Israel make my holy name unclean, they or their kings, by their loose ways and by the dead bodies of their kings;
[kjv]  In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled5 my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger.
[bbe]  By putting their doorstep by my doorstep, and the pillar of their door by the pillar of my door, with only a wall between me and them; and they have made my holy name unclean by the disgusting things which they have done: so in my wrath6 I sent destruction on them.
[kjv]  Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
[bbe]  Now let them put their loose ways and the dead bodies of their kings far from me, and I will be among them for ever.
[kjv]  Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities7: and let them measure the pattern.
[bbe]  You, son of man, give the children of Israel an account of this house, so that they may be shamed because of their evil-doing: and let them see the vision of it and its image.
[kjv]  And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances8 thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
[bbe]  And they will be shamed by what they have done; so give them the knowledge of the form of the house and its structure, and the ways out of it and into it, and all its laws and its rules, writing it down for them: so that they may keep all its laws and do them.
[kjv]  This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
[bbe]  This is the law of the house: On the top of the mountain all the space round it on every side will be most holy. See, this is the law of the house.
[kjv]  And these are the measures of the altar after the cubits: The cubit is a cubit and an hand breadth; even the bottom shall be a cubit, and the breadth a cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about shall be a span: and this shall be the higher place of the altar.
[bbe]  And these are the measures of the altar in cubits: (the cubit being a cubit and a hand's measure;) its hollow base is a cubit high and a cubit wide, and it has an overhanging edge as wide as a hand-stretch all round it:
[kjv]  And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser9 settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.
[bbe]  And from the base on the earth level to the lower shelf, the altar is two cubits high and a cubit wide; and from the smaller shelf to the greater shelf it is four cubits high and a cubit wide.
[kjv]  So the altar shall be four cubits; and from the altar and upward shall be four horns.
[bbe]  And the fireplace is four cubits high: and coming up from the fireplace are the horns, a cubit high.
[kjv]  And the altar shall be twelve cubits long, twelve broad, square in the four squares thereof.
[bbe]  And the fireplace is twelve cubits long and twelve cubits wide, square on its four sides.
[kjv]  And the settle shall be fourteen cubits long and fourteen broad in the four squares thereof; and the border about it shall be half a cubit; and the bottom thereof shall be a cubit about; and his stairs shall look toward the east.
[bbe]  And the shelf is fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide, on its four sides; the edge round it is half a cubit; the base of it is a cubit all round, and its steps are facing the east.
[kjv]  And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon.
[bbe]  And he said to me, Son of man, the Lord God has said, These are the rules for the altar, when they make it, for the offering of burned offerings on it and the draining out of the blood.
[kjv]  And thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which approach unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young bullock for a sin offering.
[bbe]  You are to give to the priests, the Levites of the seed of Zadok, who come near to me, says the Lord God, to do my work, a young ox for a sin-offering.
[kjv]  And thou shalt take of the blood thereof, and put it on the four horns of it, and on the four corners of the settle, and upon the border round about: thus shalt thou cleanse10 and purge11 it.
[bbe]  You are to take some of its blood and put it on the four horns and on the four angles of the shelf and on the edge all round: and you are to make it clean and free from sin.
[kjv]  Thou shalt take the bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary12.
[bbe]  And you are to take the ox of the sin-offering, and have it burned in the special place ordered for it in the house, outside the holy place.
[kjv]  And on the second day thou shalt offer a kid of the goats without blemish13 for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they did cleanse it with the bullock.
[bbe]  And on the second day you are to have a he-goat without any mark on it offered for a sin-offering; and they are to make the altar clean as they did with the young ox.
[kjv]  When thou hast made an end of cleansing14 it, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish, and a ram15 out of the flock without blemish.
[bbe]  And after you have made it clean, let a young ox without a mark be offered, and a male sheep from the flock without a mark.
[kjv]  And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
[bbe]  And you are to take them before the Lord, and the priests will put salt on them, offering them up for a burned offering to the Lord.

[bbe]  For seven days they are to make offerings to take away sin from the altar and to make it clean; so they are to make it holy.
[kjv]  And when these days are expired, it shall be, that upon the eighth day, and so forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you, saith the Lord GOD.
