3:1 [hgb]  那 时 , 有 施 洗 的 约 翰 出 来 , 在 犹 太 的 旷 野 传 道 , 说 , 
    [kjv]  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness1 of Judaea,
    [bbe]  And in those days John the Baptist came preaching in the waste land of Judaea,
3:2 [hgb]  天 国 近 了 , 你 们 应 当 悔 改 。 
    [kjv]  And saying, Repent2 ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
    [bbe]  Saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin; for the kingdom of heaven is near.
3:3 [hgb]  这 人 就 是 先 知 以 赛 亚 所 说 的 , 他 说 , 在 旷 野 有 人 声 喊 着 说 , 预 备 主 的 道 , 修 直 他 的 路 。 
    [kjv]  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
    [bbe]  For this is he of whom Isaiah the prophet said, The voice of one crying in the waste land, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his roads straight.
3:4 [hgb]  这 约 翰 身 穿 骆 驼 毛 的 衣 服 , 腰 束 皮 带 , 吃 的 是 蝗 虫 野 蜜 。 
    [kjv]  And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts3 and wild honey.
    [bbe]  Now John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather band about him; and his food was locusts and honey.
3:5 [hgb]  那 时 , 耶 路 撒 冷 和 犹 太 全 地 , 并 约 但 河 一 带 地 方 的 人 , 都 出 去 到 约 翰 那 里 。 
    [kjv]  Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
    [bbe]  Then Jerusalem and all Judaea went out to him, and all the people from near Jordan;
3:6 [hgb]  承 认 他 们 的 罪 , 在 约 但 河 里 受 他 的 洗 。 
    [kjv]  And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
    [bbe]  And they were given baptism by him in the river Jordan, saying openly that they had done wrong.
3:7 [hgb]  约 翰 看 见 许 多 法 利 赛 人 和 撒 都 该 人 , 也 来 受 洗 , 就 对 他 们 说 , 毒 蛇 的 种 类 , 谁 指 示 你 们 逃 避 将 来 的 忿 怒 呢 ? 
    [kjv]  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers4, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath5 to come?
    [bbe]  But when he saw a number of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Offspring of snakes, at whose word are you going in flight from the wrath to come?
3:8 [hgb]  你 们 要 结 出 果 子 来 , 与 悔 改 的 心 相 称 。 
    [kjv]  Bring forth6 therefore fruits meet for repentance7:
    [bbe]  Let your change of heart be seen in your works:
3:9 [hgb]  不 要 自 己 心 里 说 , 有 亚 伯 拉 罕 为 我 们 的 祖 宗 。 我 告 诉 你 们 , 神 能 从 这 些 石 头 中 给 亚 伯 拉 罕 兴 起 子 孙 来 。 
    [kjv]  And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
    [bbe]  And say not to yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; because I say to you that God is able from these stones to make children for Abraham.
3:10 [hgb]  现 在 斧 子 已 经 放 在 树 根 上 , 凡 不 结 好 果 子 的 树 , 就 砍 下 来 , 丢 在 火 里 。 
    [kjv]  And now also the axe8 is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
    [bbe]  And even now the axe is put to the root of the trees; every tree then which does not give good fruit is cut down, and put into the fire.
3:11 [hgb]  我 是 用 水 给 你 们 施 洗 , 叫 你 们 悔 改 。 但 那 在 我 以 后 来 的 , 能 力 比 我 更 大 , 我 就 是 给 他 提 鞋 , 也 不 配 。 他 要 用 圣 灵 与 火 给 你 们 施 洗 。 
    [kjv]  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier9 than I, whose shoes I am not worthy10 to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
    [bbe]  Truly, I give baptism with water to those of you whose hearts are changed; but he who comes after me is greater than I, whose shoes I am not good enough to take up: he will give you baptism with the Holy Spirit and with fire:
3:12 [hgb]  他 手 里 拿 着 簸 箕 , 要 扬 净 他 的 场 , 把 麦 子 收 在 仓 里 , 把 糠 用 不 灭 的 火 烧 尽 了 。 
    [kjv]  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge11 his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner12; but he will burn up the chaff13 with unquenchable fire.
    [bbe]  In whose hand is the instrument with which he will make clean his grain; he will put the good grain in his store, but the waste will be burned up in the fire which will never be put out.
3:13 [hgb]  当 下 , 耶 稣 从 加 利 利 来 到 约 但 河 , 见 了 约 翰 , 要 受 他 的 洗 。 
    [kjv]  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
    [bbe]  Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be given baptism by him.
3:14 [hgb]  约 翰 想 要 拦 住 他 , 说 , 我 当 受 你 的 洗 , 你 反 倒 上 我 这 里 来 吗 ? 
    [kjv]  But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
    [bbe]  But John would have kept him back, saying, It is I who have need of baptism from you, and do you come to me?
3:15 [hgb]  耶 稣 回 答 说 , 你 暂 且 许 我 。 因 为 我 们 理 当 这 样 尽 诸 般 的 义 。 ( 或 作 礼 ) 于 是 约 翰 许 了 他 。 
    [kjv]  And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
    [bbe]  But Jesus made answer, saying to him, Let it be so now: because so it is right for us to make righteousness complete. Then he gave him baptism.
3:16 [hgb]  耶 稣 受 了 洗 , 随 即 从 水 里 上 来 。 天 忽 然 为 他 开 了 , 他 就 看 见 神 的 灵 , 仿 佛 鸽 子 降 下 , 落 在 他 身 上 。 
    [kjv]  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending14 like a dove, and lighting15 upon him:
    [bbe]  And Jesus, having been given baptism, straight away went up from the water; and, the heavens opening, he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him as a dove;
3:17 [hgb]  从 天 上 有 声 音 说 , 这 是 我 的 爱 子 , 我 所 喜 悦 的 。 
    [kjv]  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
    [bbe]  And a voice came out of heaven, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
