[kjv]  And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables1, and said,
[bbe]  And Jesus, talking to them again in stories, said:
[kjv]  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
[bbe]  The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a feast when his son was married,
[kjv]  And sent forth2 his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
[bbe]  And sent out his servants to get in the guests to the feast: and they would not come.
[kjv]  Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold3, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
[bbe]  Again he sent out other servants, with orders to say to the guests, See, I have made ready my feast: my oxen and my fat beasts have been put to death, and all things are ready: come to the feast.
[kjv]  But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
[bbe]  But they gave no attention, and went about their business, one to his farm, another to his trade:
[kjv]  And the remnant took his servants, and entreated4 them spitefully, and slew5 them.
[bbe]  And the rest put violent hands on his servants, and did evil to them, and put them to death.
[kjv]  But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
[bbe]  But the king was angry; and he sent his armies, and those who had put his servants to death he gave to destruction, burning down their town with fire.
[kjv]  Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy6.
[bbe]  Then he said to his servants, The feast is ready but the guests were not good enough.
[kjv]  Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
[bbe]  Go then to the cross-roads, and get all those whom you see to come to the bride-feast.
[kjv]  So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
[bbe]  And those servants went out into the streets, and got together all those whom they came across, bad and good: and the feast was full of guests.
[kjv]  And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
    [bbe]  But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a guest's robe;
[kjv]  And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
[bbe]  And he says to him, Friend, how came you in here not having a guest's robe? And he had nothing to say.
[kjv]  Then said the king to the servants, Bind7 him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
[bbe]  Then the king said to the servants, Put cords round his hands and feet and put him out into the dark; there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
[kjv]  For many are called, but few are chosen.
[bbe]  For out of all to whom the good news has come, only a small number will get salvation8.
[kjv]  Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle9 him in his talk.
[bbe]  Then the Pharisees went and had a meeting to see how they might make use of his words to take him.
[kjv]  And they sent out unto him their disciples10 with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
[bbe]  And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we see that you are true, and that you are teaching the true way of God, and have no fear of anyone, because you have no respect for a man's position.
[kjv]  Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful11 to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
[bbe]  Give us, then, your opinion of this: Is it right to give tax to Caesar, or not?
[kjv]  But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt12 ye me, ye hypocrites?
[bbe]  But Jesus saw their trick and said, Oh false ones, why are you attempting to put me in the wrong?
[kjv]  Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
[bbe]  Let me see the tax money. And they gave him a penny.
[kjv]  And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
[bbe]  And he said to them, Whose is this image and name on it?
[kjv]  They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
[bbe]  They say to him, Caesar's. Then he said to them, Give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.
[kjv]  When they had heard these words, they marvelled14, and left him, and went their way.
[bbe]  And hearing it, they were full of wonder, and went away from him.
[kjv]  The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
[bbe]  On the same day there came to him the Sadducees, who say that there is no coming back from the dead: and they put a question to him, saying,
[kjv]  Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
    [bbe]  Master, Moses said, If a man, at the time of his death, has no children, let his brother take his wife, and get a family for his brother;
[kjv]  Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
    [bbe]  Now there were among us seven brothers; and the first was married and at his death, having no seed, gave his wife to his brother;

[kjv]  Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
[bbe]  When they come back from the dead, then, whose wife will she be of the seven? because they all had her.
[kjv]  Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err15, not knowing the scriptures16, nor the power of God.
[bbe]  But Jesus said to them in answer, You are in error, not having knowledge of the Writings, or of the power of God.
[kjv]  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
[bbe]  For when they come back from the dead there are no husbands and wives, but they are as the angels in heaven.
