2:1 [hgb]  但 你 所 讲 的 , 总 要 合 乎 那 纯 正 的 道 理 。 
    [kjv]  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine1:
    [bbe]  But let your words be in agreement with true and right teaching:
2:2 [hgb]  劝 老 年 人 , 要 有 节 制 , 端 庄 , 自 守 , 在 信 心 爱 心 忍 耐 上 , 都 要 纯 全 无 疵 。 
    [kjv]  That the aged2 men be sober, grave, temperate3, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
    [bbe]  That old men are to be simple in their tastes, serious, wise, true in faith, in love, and of a quiet mind.
2:3 [hgb]  又 劝 老 年 妇 人 , 举 止 行 动 要 恭 敬 , 不 说 谗 言 , 不 给 酒 作 奴 仆 , 用 善 道 教 训 人 。 
    [kjv]  The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
    [bbe]  That old women are to be self-respecting in behaviour, not saying evil of others, not given to taking much wine, teachers of that which is good,
2:4 [hgb]  好 指 教 少 年 妇 人 , 爱 丈 夫 , 爱 儿 女 , 
    [kjv]  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
    [bbe]  Training the younger women to have love for their husbands and children,
2:5 [hgb]  谨 守 贞 洁 , 料 理 家 务 , 待 人 有 恩 , 顺 服 自 己 的 丈 夫 , 免 得 神 的 道 理 被 毁 谤 。 
    [kjv]  To be discreet4, chaste5, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
    [bbe]  To be wise in mind, clean in heart, kind; working in their houses, living under the authority of their husbands; so that no evil may be said of the word of God.
2:6 [hgb]  又 劝 少 年 人 要 谨 守 。 
    [kjv]  Young men likewise exhort6 to be sober minded.
    [bbe]  To the young men give orders to be wise and serious-minded:
2:7 [hgb]  你 自 己 凡 事 要 显 出 善 行 的 榜 样 , 在 教 训 上 要 正 直 , 端 庄 , 
    [kjv]  In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity7,
    [bbe]  In all things see that you are an example of good works; holy in your teaching, serious in behaviour,
2:8 [hgb]  言 语 纯 全 , 无 可 指 责 , 叫 那 反 对 的 人 , 既 无 处 可 说 我 们 的 不 是 , 便 自 觉 羞 愧 。 
    [kjv]  Sound speech, that cannot be condemned8; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
    [bbe]  Saying true and right words, against which no protest may be made, so that he who is not on our side may be put to shame, unable to say any evil of us.
2:9 [hgb]  劝 仆 人 要 顺 服 自 己 的 主 人 , 凡 事 讨 他 的 喜 欢 。 不 可 顶 撞 他 。 
    [kjv]  Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
    [bbe]  Servants are to be under the authority of their masters, pleasing them in all things, without argument;
2:10 [hgb]  不 可 私 拿 东 西 。 要 显 为 忠 诚 , 以 致 凡 事 尊 荣 我 们 救 主 神 的 道 。 
    [kjv]  Not purloining9, but shewing all good fidelity10; that they may adorn11 the doctrine of God our Saviour12 in all things.
    [bbe]  Not taking what is not theirs, but giving clear signs of their good faith, in all things doing credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.
2:11 [hgb]  因 为 神 救 众 人 的 恩 典 , 已 经 显 明 出 来 , 
    [kjv]  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation13 hath appeared to all men,
    [bbe]  For the grace of God has come, giving salvation to all men,
2:12 [hgb]  教 训 我 们 除 去 不 敬 虔 的 心 , 和 世 俗 的 情 欲 , 在 今 世 自 守 , 公 义 , 敬 虔 度 日 。 
    [kjv]  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts14, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    [bbe]  Training us so that, turning away from evil and the desires of this world, we may be living wisely and uprightly in the knowledge of God in this present life;
2:13 [hgb]  等 候 所 盼 望 的 福 , 并 等 候 至 大 的 神 , 和 ( 或 作 无 和 字 ) 我 们 救 主 耶 稣 基 督 的 荣 耀 显 现 。 
    [kjv]  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    [bbe]  Looking for the glad hope, the revelation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
2:14 [hgb]  他 为 我 们 舍 了 自 己 , 要 赎 我 们 脱 离 一 切 罪 恶 , 又 洁 净 我 们 , 特 作 自 己 的 子 民 , 热 心 为 善 。 
    [kjv]  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem15 us from all iniquity16, and purify unto himself a peculiar17 people, zealous18 of good works.
    [bbe]  Who gave himself for us, so that he might make us free from all wrongdoing, and make for himself a people clean in heart and on fire with good works.
2:15 [hgb]  这 些 事 你 要 讲 明 , 劝 戒 人 , 用 各 等 权 柄 责 备 人 。 不 可 叫 人 轻 看 你 。 
    [kjv]  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke19 with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
    [bbe]  On all these points give teaching and help, and make clear what is right with all authority. Let all men give you honour.
